The Kids Are Alright

But Your Gen Z Recruiting Strategy Probably Isn't

Hey there,

Look, we need to talk about Gen Z. No, I'm not going to lecture you about what years they were born (that horse is dead), and I'm definitely not here to tell you they're entitled or lazy or whatever other nonsense people say about every new generation.

Instead, Bryan and I just dropped what might be our shortest People MBA episode ever, and it's a no-BS look at what you ACTUALLY need to do if you want to recruit these "youths" (as I call them, because apparently I'm ancient now).

Here's the deal: they're different. Not better, not worse - just different. They communicate differently. They value different things. And they absolutely will not tolerate the same outdated practices we've been putting up with for decades.

Bryan put together this killer checklist that will help you evaluate whether your talent strategy is even remotely relevant to Gen Z. We're talking about everything from how they want to receive communication (hint: not through your monolithic career site) to what they expect from career paths (spoiler: it's not your traditional corporate ladder).

If you're still trying to recruit Gen Z with the same tactics you used for millennials or (heaven help us) Gen X, you're already behind. But don't worry - we've got you covered.

Check out the episode, download the checklist, and let's get to work. Because these kids aren't just the future - they're already running big chunks of the present.

The lawn is theirs now. Deal with it.

Later, James

P.S. Big thanks to Plum for sponsoring this episode. They get it.
